Volkswagen Group reports another delivery record for first nine months


The Volkswagen Group has held its own on the world’s automotive markets in the first nine months of this year and reported another delivery record, handing over a total of 5.37 (January to September 2009: 4.76; +12.7 percent)* million vehicles to customers. In September alone, deliveries rose by 7.9 percent to 663,100 (614,800)**.

Volkswagen Group is most trustworthy company


According to a study, the Volkswagen Group is the most trustworthy of all DAX 30 companies. Volkswagen scored the highest ranking in the Corporate Trust Index (CTI), a study carried out by the Institute of Communication and Media Studies of the University of Leipzig and PMG Presse-Monitor. During the first half of 2010, the Group therefore further extended its leading position over the comparable prior-year period.

New Beetle Sunshine Tour 2010 with over 400 Volkswagens


Wolfsburg/Travemünde, - Fans of the Volkswagen New Beetle from all over Europe will be coming together this weekend in Travemünde on the Baltic coast. The annual get-together, first staged in 2004, is heading this year for a record number of participants. Over 400 New Beetles and New Beetle convertibles have already been registered for the event. It is thus the largest Beetle fans’ tour anywhere in the world.

Since its market launch in 1974, this compact sports coupé has been the most successful Volkswagen in its segment: 795,650 vehicles were sold up to 1992. Currently, the third generation is being manufactured.

Today, at the VW Autoeuropa - Automóveis Ltda. plant in Portugal, just two years after its market launch, the hundred-thousandth third-generation Scirocco rolled off the production line. "The Scirocco is one of the most important cars that we produce. For myself personally, it was a moving moment", said Andreas Hinrichs, Autoeuropa Plant Manager.

Environmental commendation for Volkswagen’s TSI engines


Volkswagen’s TSI engines have been awarded the environmental commendation certified by TÜV Nord, following in the footsteps of the dual-clutch transmission DSG. The Life Cycle Assessment on which the commendation is based confirms that the TSI engines have significantly improved environmental characteristics compared with the predecessor models throughout their life cycle thanks to their smaller engine size and lower fuel consumption – while at the same time evidencing higher driving dynamics.
